Position Summary
Production Managers will be responsible for the production department activities, including reviewing sales quotes to manage and organize the audio-visual equipment for events, booking labour, and keeping onsite equipment inventory organized and detailed. They will create event folders for each event, collect and/or create event information including technical floor plans and documentation, and assist and advise the sales/account manager with technical planning for larger events. In addition, they will oversee and supervise Lead AV Technicians and assist with the training of in-house AV systems. They will be required to assist with the setup, operation, and dismantle of events as required and assist in the testing of equipment after setups and ensuring that client’s needs are met.
Job Duties
- Review all quotes with the sales/account managers to confirm audio-visual details, venue, and event specific requests
- Connect with clients and planners to finalize the details of their audio-visual requirements for their event and event documentation
- Create and update internal equipment documentation for events
- Create and organize event folders, technical floor plans, and documentation for crew
- Collect, organize, and distribute event agendas, run of shows, and content from clients
- Plan and organize logistics for off-site equipment including managing loading dock bookings
- Book and manage labour for all events
- Maintain a strong system of organization and maintenance of in-house equipment
- Track and manage all broken equipment and ensure replacements are provided, as needed
- Provide support and training to Production Technicians, AV Specialists, and contractors
- Responsible for front of the line customer service and interaction with clients, venue partners and other vendors as needed
- Supervise Lead AV Technicians
- Assist with the setup, operation, and dismantle of audio-visual equipment as required
- Ensure that audio-visual equipment is functioning and in good working order
- Troubleshoot equipment errors and software issues as required
- Load and unload audio-visual equipment into event spaces as required
- Complete inspection forms and daily reports as required
- Comply with company policies and procedures
- Comply with company, industry, and legislative health & safety policies, procedures, standards, and best practices
- Inform your assigned manager of any event emergencies, set backs, unresolved issues, and last minute client requests
- Attend meetings as required
- Adhere to established safe working procedures and wear the proper safety equipment
- Maintain professional conduct and appearance at all times
- Maintain a cooperative and sensitive teamwork attitude when dealing with clients
- Other duties as required by company
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in event production, event management, hospitality, or business management
- 3+ years experience in production management or equivalent work experience
- Knowledge of audio-visual equipment in a live event environment
- Proficiency with the use of computer hardware, software, and programs, including the Internet, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite
- Ability to communicate orally and written at a professional working proficiency level or greater in the English language
- Extensive experience creating production schedules
- Experience booking and managing labour, and managing teams
- Ability to adapt to new technology
- Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
- Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
- High level of integrity and work ethic
- Strong negotiation skills with clients and vendors
- Work experience with LED walls, conference systems, and rigging is an asset
- Work experience with Crestron and QSYS systems is an asset
- CAD experience and skills is an asset, specifically with WYSIWYG
- Experience working in a hotel and/or convention centre environment is an asset
- Experience using Flex Rental Solutions software is an asset
- Knowledge and experience of Lasso Crew Management Software is an asset
- Knowledge of current workplace health & safety regulations, fire & building codes, and AODA regulations in relation to the live entertainment industry is an asset
- Working At Heights and MEWP training and certification is an asset
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle is an asset
